Well I am now in a basketball league and in our first game after 2 quarters I was exhausted. I played the whole game but was pissed at myself. I am 5'10 and 170 Pounds. So the weight isn't my issue, but since I have been in school I have struggled to get in a lot of athletics. I used to play three sports in high school so this has been weird for me.

Since I have been at school I have gained 20 pounds, and although I am still slightly underweight or average, I hate that I am not in shape. Diet has been a major factor I feel. I eat fast food probably 4 days a week because of the hurry I am in at school. I also drink heavily and smoke weed so I assume that adds to it. I am going to track my intake on here and try to hold myself below 1500 calories today, and eliminate all fast food places from my diet. The only food I will eat that is bad for me is Pizza, Subs and Candy because it was just easter. I will limit the amount of that though greatly.

May I add I am on adderall because I have ADHD so I usually don't eat much more then once and maybe twice a day. I will work out 4 days a week and keep track on here of calories I have burned.

This is to track my diet mainly to keep myself below a certain amount of calories and to see how many I burn. I can not lose to much weight because it will get to be unhealthy, so I will be lifting weights to try and keep weight on as well. This is a get in shape thread, not a weight loss thread. I have seen what it has done for Mr. Hognuts and it isn't a bad idea. You don't need to chime in unless you want to lend diet tips.

Ok day one is about to begin, will update on where I eat lunch.

Also will most likely work out for about an hour today. Usually do an hour and a half but don't have the time and I have a slightly broken ankle right now so not really possible to do my track work out.

Lunch is going to be a bitch, because I have no damn clue where I am going and I am in a big hurry but going to stay away from the shitty fast food.

It is a tracker as I said... If you don't want to read it don't read it... I don't really care as I said...

Lunch 700 calories... Piece of Pizza and some pop... Probably will be my only meal for the day...

By the way I am far from a degenerate haha...

Im not a nutrition expert my any means, but i do know alot. I follow everything i eat. If you ask any nutritional expert they will tell you to eat 4-5 small meals per day. This is what helps burn more calories. You mentioned you are going to eat one piece of pizza and nothing else. I dont think this is your best bet for staying in shape. Good luck though man.

Yeah that is what I heard and I wish I had the time and money to do that but I just flat out don't. I take Adderall as I said so it really limits my hunger to about one or maximum two meals a day. I lose weight this way but don't have the energy that I should have.

Ok that was all I consumed today... and I couldn't work out due to my ankle and school work.

Well actually 900 calories consumed because I had half a bagel for dinner.

Eating 6 meals a day is practical for those with either a kitchen staff on hand or those that have a less demanding schedule. I have yet to meet someone that meets that criteria.

Mane, the easiest and cheapest way to better health is to make sleep a priority. An adequate and consistent amount of rest can go along ways to helping your body digest food and regulate appetite. Second, give up soda. Soda is worse for you than beer, much worse. If beer is not an option, consider a sparkling fruit flavored beverage. They make them without sugar and hence are very low on calories (basically carbonated water that tastes good). The only place I have seen them is at the supermarket and they are usually a generic product. Otherwise, go with water. Soda is liquid caca. If you have to have something sweet after a meal (like me), chocolate is the thing. Even if it's just Hershey, chocolate is good for you. The best chocolate would be the dark variety with less sugar (Trader Joes west coast), but that' not always practical. One last thing, pick up some good power bars ( Wal Mart/Atkins my fav), while they are not a meal, they do provide some carbs and protein to keep your metabolism working.

My buddy at school eats 6 meals a day but he is a big on lifting...

I usually only drink water. Don't like pop that much, and the only pop I ever drink is Dr. Pepper and many places don't have it. I have found this has cut my calorie in take big time.

Had a 9 inch sub for lunch today. Mayo and American cheese though. Probably around 600 calories again. As I said I am not trying to starve myself, because I am not really trying to lose that much weight at all. More trying to build muscle mass kind of but mostly just get back into shape. I take Adderrall and it really impedes on my appetite. It makes it so you really only want to eat one meal a day.

You are talking about getting in shape and cutting down some fat and the 1st thing you post is; Today I had one slice of Pizza and some pop?

You are in a hurry? Thats ok. Get a 32 oz water bottle and drink 4 a day. Thats a gallon of water and thats a start. Not only is this better then you for pop, but you will sweat out a lot more of your bodies impurities during your workouts.

Now to your food issue - Make a sandwhich in the morning. Whole grain bread, tuna, turkey, or lean ham. Fat free mayo maybe, but don't turn a sandwhich into a bad meal with fatty meats, dressings, and bad bread. Take that with you. Don't say you don't have time, it takes 5 minutes.

-Take a can of tuna with you and eat that. If you don't want to make anything, go to subway and eat a low fat sandwhich. Take some apples or bananas with you during the day and snack on those.

You are not going to lose any weight eating pizza and pop, thats for sure.

1-2 meals is also very unhealthy. Breakfast is the most important meal. Start off the day with some eggs(Don't have time? Hard boil them the night before), eat some cereal(carbs, but fast burning ones which are what ou need in the morning), and then a peice of fruit. Thats a start. If you want some more advice let me know as this is one of the areas I am most educated in and pay most attention to.

Kruser read what I wrote. I am not trying to lose weight. I have gained weight since I went to school but I was tiny tiny in high school. I am a little below average weight still. I am trying to get into shape, and maybe lose 5 pounds. There are a lot of days where I consumer less then I burn which is terrible for you, but I can't eat more then one meal a day. This is to monitor my calories to make sure that while I am losing weight I don't lose to much weight.

I guess I don't understand why you can't eat more than one meal a day?

I take Adderall, it is a drug to help with ADHD... something my crazy ass has had since I was a little kid. It limits your appetite so you just flat out don't get hungry and there is really nothing you can do about it.

I also am always busy and don't really have the time because I have mid day class, then basketball and lifting, and then I drink or do home work.

Doesn't Adderall gives you incredible concentration and memory? Do you pop a few pills while prepping for exams? I remember you said you gpa went up dramatically since your freshman year.

But yeah, your dieting is definitely unique. I guess you're just eating what you like and living a normal college life but making sure your net total calories per day is always on the negative side.

tried to go to college w/o it and failed miserably... since I got back on my numbers have rocketed.

Bad day...

Great American Bagel for breakfast and that wasn't so bad.

But then after my work out we went out and got drunk at hooters and had 50 wings and fries for the 5 of us....

I'm here to provide helpful input.....

I know you said you can't eat more than one meal a day and eating like 700 calories a day plus going to the gym is really going to drastically make you lose weight. Not only fat but muscle too. I know you said you didn't really want to. Even if you eat 1500 calories a day you're not going to be able to build any muscle mass. You'll still burn fat and muscle. Why?

You will burn more calories than you consume which will make you lose weight. But sometimes if you cut it TOO much, your body will go into survival mode and really slow down your metabolism and get energy from other places...like lean muscle. We don't want that. It realizes it's not going to have much energy to survive the day so it'll do everything it can to conserve energy. Like if you got stranded on a mountain or island. Everything you put into your mouth will most likely be converted straight to fat to be used as energy for later when it's not getting any calories.

I'm all about eating six smaller meals a day to lose weight, maintain weight, or gain weight in a healthy manner. But since you don't have the budget or appetite I won't get into that.

Cutting out fast food is great. Or at least limiting it. Plus there's lots of healthy stuff out there in fast food restaurants when you do rely on fast food.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It's a fact. Try to eat it if you can. Your body will appreciate it.

But I think a major key is to just eat what you can because it sounds like you could use more calories. Except don't eat Hooters wings right after you work out.

Overall, just sounds like you want to be in shape. So hit the cardio and the weights. Do cardio like three times a week. Get those endorphins flowing after a workout and try to eat at least a breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Anything. Even if you have to eat half of your lunch and save the other half for dinner. Just spread out those calories.
